New research is showing that poor diet, not only affects our bodies physically, but also our brains. As chiropractors, we are trained to educate our patients on natural alternatives to keep our patients healthy and giving them advice on proper nutrition. Our approach is simple, "good" food first and "bad" food last. For example, if you drink a 12oz can of soda, which has 39 grams of sugar before you eat your meal, it's like eating a candy bar before you eat your healthy "good" food (snickers 20 grams of sugar & Twix 29 grams of sugar). This increasing your blood sugar and causing havoc in your entire body. Bottom line, don't drink soda before your meal, just start drinking water with your meal. This will change your metabolism and your body will utilize the nutrients in your "good" food.
When you create a conscious food choice palate, you establish homeostasis in your system and the research is showing you have better mental clarity, superior cognitive functions and higher amounts of grey matter in the brain, which is linked to intelligence.
